The DollHouse Presents: City Dolls

The DollHouse Presents: City Dolls

Pussy is Power was the theme of the night.  The Curvalishous(I made that word up) host of the night killed it. As she stood front and center swaying her hips along with her unit of dancers showing us exactly what it means to be sexy and dominant.
As Expected the Dollhouse/The Ken Project but on F*%$ING great show: getting your vagina dripping and penis throbbing.
Sex was in the air and the talent was apparent.

The Dollhouse is an urban burlesque show featuring a team of dancers who give you sex and talent all in one performance! This show’s theme centered around the  ladies…… The Dolls! It was all about women empowerment, the Power of the Pussy!  Because ladies you know PUSSY IS POWER right! Each Doll took the stage making sure the men followed their lead as they entertained the crowd
But of course the night would not be complete with out the MAN still trying to run things. Then bam! On stage came The Ken Project. Shirts off, abs out, and thrust game on Hahunnitttt! #thristtrapmoment.
The night went on with a bride to be being serenaded by the Ken’s as she was tied up! A jaw dropping performance from a Doll veteran, as she made magic happen effortlessly on the pole and  the night continued with a overload of sexy series of other routines that was sure to keep the crowd hot and wanting more.

Blood of Queen Social Book Launching.

     That moment when you are super inspired! That is what happened last week at the Social Book Launch for Blood of a Queen by Toi Powell.
This self-published project is the first of a three book series.  And HUN-TEE, when I tell you it is a page-turner, I never lied! That same feeling you get while watching ABC’s How to get away with Murder, is the best way to describe this novel! Hello to the new Shonda Rhimes , matter of fact hello Toi Powell!

     The night opened with Power House Singer Lenny Harold performing a song from his EP New Testament: Mountain High.  The melodies set the night perfectly for a grand intro to the publication.
The book launch was held at Karma in New York City.  Guest socialized enjoying food, drinks, hookah, and music as they anticipated the arrival of the women of the night.  Surrounded by fans, friends, and family the host of the night Sean Williams shared moments he had with Toi Powell during the journey to Blood of Queen.  “Toi wanted to say she finished something and the novel was it, said Sean.  Challenging herself, she did just that working hours and hours. Disappearing from social outings, coming in from her 9-5, putting in a physical work out, and then back to work with on her passion Blood of a Queen. Sometimes staying up until 4 A.M just to get back up in the morning to do it all over again.
Toi gave the attendees a real look into her nine-year journey as an author.  A short video was played sharing her inspiration to writing the novel, a back-story to the main character Ruby, her process, and the soundtrack to the Novel. Yes, there is a soundtrack to this mind-blowing Novel! Can I get a “OOOHHHYEEAAA” for the creativity! And the Artistry didn’t stop there.  Author Toi Powell premiered the Official Music Video Blood of a Queen and surprised the audience with a live performance. Yes Author Toi Powell sings too, and well might I add!  The inspiring words continued throughout the night.  Toi represents hard work. She was real enough to speak on the hiccups, fears, and the gratitude of finishing what she set her mind to. Toi spoke to the crowd,  “I want you to pursue your passion, pursue goals, pursue your desires, make sure you do not give up, do not give up. It may take you nine years; it may take you nine months. But at some point it may feel like you can’t do this anymore. You may feel like this is just too tough. I’m neglecting my family, I’m neglecting my friends, I can’t focus at work. It’s just so much easier to give. But the road you must travel to be successful and finally feel like you accomplished something is a road less traveled. And that is totally true! The fact that you may be holding my book in your hand is just proof that if you continue to keep going and not let these things bother you, get in your way, not let anyone deter your path in greatness, You will be successful.”

Set of 'The Diary of an Afro Goddess"
@actresscheriedanielle

  August 5,2016 marked the finale for  a one  woman show that left goosebumps on my arms! "The Dairy of an Afro Goddess" (A one-woman show) was held at The WOW Cafe Theater located on the Lower east side of New York City. This space was a perfect set up for the performance offering a intimate stage setting for what was to come. The stage looked like something straight out of a 1070's black exploitation film adding a touch of a spiritual Afro vibe, a lava lamp, and hues of gold and royal Purple.
     The show written and performed by Cherie Danielle and directed by Marishka S. Phillips is centered around Isis, the Afro Goddess who is the main entertainment of the Goddess Lounge. In the opening scene Isis greets her visitors to the Goddess Lounge, a special place between heaven and earth. The place lovers of all things love, especially black love past before they reach the man up top in "Melanin heaven."
Cherie captivates her audience as she takes you through Isis's experiences being  held in the Goddess lounge. She keeps you laughing as she dances around the room sharing stories of her time on earth. Then tugs your heart as she breaks down the black experience from the Birmingham Church Bombings, the Jim Crow Laws, and the Pro Black Movement of the 1070's! As you follow her on the roller coaster of emotions Isis reminds you how phenomenal it is to be a Black Women! How grand our natural fro is and despite all self love is most important!
Although this must see show has came to an end it will brung back for those of you missed it! For more information on future shows be sure to continue to follow the dreamchaserdreammaker blog, @LivinlifeProductions and  @itsinthespotlightmagazine on Instagram
