The Garden State Film Festival takes over Asbury Park every year around the end of March. In 2019 the festival celebrated its 17th year. The festival was founded by Film and Television Veteran Diane Raver and Hollywood Actor Robert Pastorelli back in 2002. The two artistic brains came together to not only celebrate the independent film genre but use their platform to highlight local and independent artist from the garden state and beyond. Since inception The Garden State Film Festival has hosted over 40,000 attendees and continues to pay tribute to the art of filmmaking, including New Jersey’s rich history in film.
In June of 2017 Veteran Content Creator Lauren Concar Sheehy took over role as Executive Director keeping the Festival just as awesome as the past years. The Festival usually last a week and is jam packed with film screenings, red carpets, networking opportunities, parties, workshops, and panel discussions. Some of the stand out moments of the 2019 Film Festival was the Friday Gala Cocktail Party and First Screening of “The Bird Catcher”, The elegant Award Banquet, and Panel Discussion: Actor on Acting featuring August Diehl, Ronnie Marmo, Siobhan Fallon Hogan and Arthur Hakalahti. These moments were just a few and GSFF 2020 will offer much more!
The 18th Annual Garden State Film Festival will be held again in Asbury Park March 25-29, 2019. If you or anyone you know want to participate in the 2020 festival the deadline for all submissions is December 1,2019. Head over to www.gsff.org for more information. If you’re a film enthusiast like myself tickets are actually available to purchase! Again head over to www.gsff.org and I hope to see you there!

NITESHINE THE ARTIST

NITESHINE THE ARTIST

Artist Niteshine is pretty much known on the East Coast and on track to be just as known across the country. Being a New Jersey native he grew up listening to Rapper’s like Jay-Z, DipSet and Julez Santana. Early in his teen years he found himself in an unfortunate situation that ultimately lead to him to being behind bars for 3 years. Although this was a setback it was also a time for him to self-reflect and figure out what he wanted out of life.       “I think when I went to prison, I found that part of me, I always knew about it [music] but I had time to play with it,” said Nite.      Niteshine himself is truly special and has grown overtime being in the music business.  From his name to his style of music, Individual is what comes to mind when you start to describe him. For starters the name Niteshine started as completely gang related and developed into his brand of not being able to be defined. Nite (Night) + Shine (day) = both.        “Now my name means no label, no lane. You can’t put me in a box, you can’t call me a rapper, [and] you can’t call me a singer. You can’t call me anything but my name NiteShine. It’s like night and day you never know what you’re going to get,” explained Nite.  His description of himself makes perfect sense as you listen to his music. Sometime you get that gritty rap sound about street life but then he can switch it up and bring smooth melodies telling woman never to compromise themselves for a man.  Nite really puts his heart into his music. If he’s going through a relationship it’s in the music, if shit not right with his team, it’s in the music. His honesty and ability to not be boxed in adds to the value he brings as an Artist.
Nite started to pick up momentum with his career once he joined Let’s Roll Records in 2013. With Let’s Roll Niteshine experienced much success. During his time he dropped 2 albums and various singles including “Gary Coleman” that was played on Hot 97.1 by DJ Drewski and Power 105.1 played by DJ Self and DJ Envy. Both stations are the ti-states biggest urban radio stations; not only was this a great moment for Nite but for his hometown too.    “N**** was going crazy, my song being played on the radio, that shit was lit,” shared Nite.
His run with Let’s Roll Records lasted from 2013 to the summer of 2019, then he dropped “Free Agent”. The lyrics clearly spoke on him parting ways with his long time label. Literally the first bar stated “No More Let’s Roll N****”.  It came as a surprise to most, but Niteshine actually had the opportunity to leave the label sooner and sign a RocNation Distribution Deal. That deal was never finalized.  It came down to not being able to follow through with an abrupt request from Roc Nation. Nite did not let yet another setback stop him. It motivated him to go harder. Nite is still preforming, traveling and of course making more music. He started working with new management, Jimmie S. but decided it was best to work with those who been around since the beginning of his career. His new but old team has been holding him down and accountable to the hustle since his disband with Jimmie.
On Oct 19 he announced a new album on the way and has since been dropping snippets on his Instagram. He just shot a New Music Video for "House N****"  and will be following up with another video for "Codeine". Both videos will be dropping soon.  His focus is to keep the momentum of his independent career and work towards creating his own record label. Niteshine keeps an eye on opportunities with other labels but would always be a decision that has to make sense.  To keep up with all music from Niteshine on all major streaming platforms and Social Media @Niteshine (Instagram) @Niteshine (Twitter)
